InnoGraft LLC was spun off from Innovia in 2003 to exploit InnoSeal, a novel, non-animal-derived, polysaccharide-based sealant for the coating of vascular grafts. InnoSeal is a biodegradable polymer that stimulates tissue ingrowth throughout the wall of a vascular graft while preventing blood from clotting the graft's lumen.
The company has thus far successfully coated both conventional large caliber vascular grafts and also small caliber vascular grafts for utilization in the peripheral and coronary vasculature.
InnoGraft's intention is to replace medical devices that contain animal-derived products such as collagen, gelatin and albumin. The onset of diseases, such as mad cow disease, has led some countries to consider outlawing the sale of medical devices that contain such animal-derived products.
Please see the InnoSeal page for additional information on the product.
